Just skins is “just” that. No remodels, just WG models with a new paint job.
Revision in Progress. Some of the older files had the wrong DDS format saved. I am correcting this to the correct format and revising the camo for some of the older models. Currently, the USA is done.
I am working to create a download page for each nation/class, which will include example screenshots. However, for now, you can view all the complete downloads by clicking here.
The files with _gps in the filename are the new skin types. They include all nations, and some are the 3D models from WG. I include the 3D model as default in most instances.
Why:
They load faster than a remodel and do not tend to create in-game issues as the versions change.
Included are:
- Added camo. This will not interfere with ingame camo, but if you do not use ingame camo, or use LimpidStickers mod, then it will provide a nice paint scheme.
- Highlight accessories. WG likes subdued, I like a little more color for mine. So the tools, cables, and other accessories are highlighted to show better.
- If a 3D version is provided by WG, I usually default to the 3D model. If I do not prefer the 3D model, then I go with the normal version and do a repaint.
Installation:
Move the <tank>.wotmod file from the archive (zip) file to the World_of_Tanks/mods/<current game version> folder.
For faster loading, unarchive (unzip) the <tank>.wotmod file into the World of Tanks/res_mods/<current game version> folder. Choose the vehicles folder in the wotmod file and move that over, do not include the res folder. Do not place the entire .wotmod file in the res_mods folder as it will not load.
The reason for faster loading is that first WoT looks at the res_mods folder for any changes, then the mods folder, then the game default folder. So placing the appropriate files into the res_mods folder adds a litle speed on loading the game.
Additionally, I use paint.net for painting the tanks and have left the .pdn files in the tank folder. If you want to open them and experiment with editing your own tank skin, have fun.
